Soil Conditioning
Soil conditioning is one of the most effective tree care practices for defending against drought stress. Compacted or drought-hardened soils often become hydrophobic, causing water to run off instead of soaking into the ground. Conditioning helps break up that concrete-like soil, allowing water to reach the root zone where trees need it most. When trees experience drought stress, their natural defenses weaken, leaving them far more vulnerable to insects and disease.
